Steering

The AskColorado Steering Committee is charged with the oversight of the AskColorado virtual reference service, including selecting software, negotiating and implementing contracts and licenses for virtual reference and associated software, implementing and marketing virtual reference throughout the state on behalf of Colorado libraries and to the benefit of Colorado residents.

CVRREPs

Represents participating libraries and acts as liaison between library and AskColorado, disseminates communication about the project to library leaders, when appropriate oversees staff scheduling and training, and participates in collaboration planning and future development.

Quality Assurance and Evaluation

Oversees quality and uses evaluation procedures and feedback to maintain high standards of Reference Service.

Policies & Procedures

Establishes Best Practices for the reference service, logistics, staff schedules, address copyright & proprietary database issues, ensure that participants have followed through with participation requirements (e.g. a web page with local library info), oversees the content and design of the public website.

Marketing & Public Relations Inactive

Oversees the promotion of the service, including strategic marketing plans which take into account timing (so service is not overwhelmed), identifying public entities where advertising will be beneficial, promotional materials, logo, name, liaison with media outlets.

Software

Reviews software options and service options and makes recommendations for licensing of software and services.

Ad Hoc committees are formed and given a charge by the Steering Committee as needed. When possible each committee should have a representative from the Steering Committee.
